Sam Steele is the youngest of
Windswept Farm's four
Hanoverian
stallions. His sire Sherlock Holmes and grandsire Salvano, mark the
renaisance
of an old and highly regarded blood line with roots in East Prussia and
the
Trakahner stallon Damp Fross. Its' contribution to Hanoverian breeding
began
with the Trakehner stallion Semper Idem.

Sam's dam, St.Pr.St. Eskalade, was
a daughter of Eklatant, a talented
son of the thoroughbred Ecuador xx. His dam's lineage also goes back to
East
Prussia through Akzent I and Argentan, both sons of Absatz and
grandsons
of of Abglanz, who found a home in Hannover, and began more than a half
century of distinguished contribution by this bloodline to Hanoverian
breeding.
On the
performance
side Sam is being trained over fences. He has the low profile and
steady
way of going of a hunter, and is well-balanced, bold and scopey with
the
instincts of a more experienced horse. His first
foals
were born this year, two of which are shown below. A chestnut colt,
(Sam
Steele - Willa) was selected by the AHS inspection jury as the top foal
of
those presented at the annual inspection.
